Communications Coordinator
This position will help drive all communications of the One Fish Foundation message
via various platforms, including newsletters, website, social media, and slide decks.
Responsibilities:
- Develop news stories for monthly e-newsletter:
- Curate articles and write summaries focused on sustainable seafood;
- Track movement news and network happenings to highlight calls to action;
- Research and feature monthly recipe and Fascinating Fish of the Month;
- Manage social media platforms (average of 2-3 posts per week on FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Coordinate PowerPoint and GoogleSlides for various presentations throughout the year
- Update website regularly with new content, including:
- newsletter archives
- recipes (create PDF versions and upload)
- Fascinating Fish of the Month
- Upload and post already written blogs to the website
- Facilitate schools outreach
- Create Google Sheets or Excel Spreadsheets for various needs such as collection of student feedback
Necessary Skills and Experience:
- A background in college-level marine sciences, food systems, or both
- Basic journalistic writing experience
- Proficient in Google Slides and Microsoft Powerpoint
- Proficient in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
Helpful skills, but will train the right person:
- Mailchimp campaign creation for monthly e-newsletters
- WordPress
- Canva
This equates to 20-25 hours per month, but can be variable on a weekly basis. Some of these responsibilities, like newsletter creation, occur regularly, while others are less frequent. Compensation ranges from $20-$25 per hour, and is commensurate with experience. This work is remote.
