Our Work

Community engagement is now more crucial than ever when it comes to supporting local food and seafood systems. Nowhere is this more evident than at local farmer’s markets, where relationships are grown much like the produce, eggs, meat and other products sold by independent farmers. One Fish Foundation’s mission hinges on getting more folks to learn about the story of the seafood they eat by building relationships either with seafood producers, those who sell the seafood, or those who prepare it in restaurants.

We bring those messages forward across three fundamental platforms.

Education: The conversation begins in the classroom, from elementary school through colleges, universities and graduate programs. We shape the story via interactive classroom dialogue, role play and dynamic presentations to meet students where they are in their curriculum. Our mission? To get students of all ages to understand their relationship to seafood and why that matters. Learn more.

Chefs Community Series: Moving the needle toward local seafood systems and away from industrial supply chains starts with engaged teams of local chefs and locals seafood producers working together to engage their communities in conversations and events centered on supporting local seafood with values. The Chefs Community Series does that be establishing these enduring communities in cities with a goal of building and maintaining momentum for local seafood systems. The pilot project begins in New Orleans, Seattle and Boston. Learn More.
